The FA Cup is BACK!
The FA Cup is BACK and we have selected three key games where we think there could be slip ups...
1 – Sheffield Wednesday v Luton
Wednesday have found life in the Championship difficult this season having recently sacked manager Jos Luhukay and find themselves in 16th place, but are unbeaten in their last four. They have since appointed Steve Bruce as their new manager but he won’t take charge until February. Second place Luton Town from League One could be a potential banana skin for the Owls at Hillsborough tomorrow. Luton are the leading scorers in League One, and boast the best goal difference in the league.
Prediction – Owls 0-2 Hatters
2 – Shrewsbury v Stoke
Gary Rowett is coming under increasing pressure at the Bet 365 Stadium, with his side lying in 14th place, when at the beginning of the season Stoke were overwhelming favourites for the title. The play-offs are only 8 points away but there are little signs of them making a climb up the table. There are rumours that if Shrewsbury can overcome Stoke, Rowett will face the sack. Shrewsbury haven’t been as successful this season as last, following the departure of manager Paul Hurst and reaching the Play-Off Final but are unbeaten in their last 9 games in all competitions at New Meadow and will pose a strong threat to Stoke with moral low and lacking creativity.
Prediction – The Shrews 1-1 Potters (Shrews win replay)
3 – Accrington Stanley v Ipswich
Ipswich have found life increasingly difficult since the departure of Mick McCarthy in the summer, his predecessor, Paul Hurst found the job tough and was sacked after 14 games. Paul Lambert is now in charge but they remain rooted to the bottom of the league. Accrington started the season brightly but four defeats out of the last the six games has seen them drop to 12th, Stanley will fancy their chances against the Championship’s bottom club, especially on home soil.
Prediction – Stanley 3-1 Tractor Boys
